Seth Christensen, a young professor of Design starting his first semester teaching at BYU is “driven by the hope of contributing to the creation of meaningful solutions that meet the needs of individuals and communities.” In both his profession as a designer of User Experience and as a professor of young designers, Christensen focuses on connecting individuals with quality designs and ways of thinking.

Returning to his alma mater, Christensen has goals and plans to offer BYU design students his best skills and insight: “I don’t want to tell students what to think or convince them that they must think as I do. I want to teach students how to think and allow them to reach their own conclusions and unleash creativity. Every discipline can be creative. I want students to recognize that fact and help them see their creative potential.”

More than simply designs, Christensen’s work is centered on people and creating memorable and effective experiences. In his profession facilitating and enhancing user experience, and now teaching valuable skills of design, his goal is pass on quality experiences and knowledge.

As a young professional and a designer passionate about his field, Christensen has much to offer BYU: “I strive to prepare students for a seamless entry into their professions or graduate studies of choice by efficiently and effectively preparing them through relevant curriculum, engaged learning, and extracurricular activities. I want to accelerate their career growth by helping them be prime candidates for top-notch jobs or high-caliber graduate programs.”

Christensen graduated with his bachelor's degree in Industrial Design. Since then, he has worked in design studios, as a freelancer, and as a professor. “I'm always seeking after and trying to live a well-balanced life,” he says. “My wife and I love to garden and have a love-hate relationship with home improvement projects. We like to read and listen to books. I love just about any physical activity, especially in the great outdoors.” The Department is excited to welcome another passionate and talented professor to inspire and influence students for good.
